Privacy policy
Last updated November 4, 2026
MapDry is made by Alpine Start Studio ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information MapDry collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the MapDry app, the web app at app.mapdry.com, and this website.
Two kinds of information
Your account. When you or your company signs up, we collect your email address, your name if you add it, your company's name, and your role in it.
Job records your company keeps in MapDry. This is what your team enters while documenting jobs: job addresses, the property owner's or customer's name, phone, and email, insurance carrier and claim numbers, sketches, moisture and atmospheric readings, equipment, notes, and photos. Photo files may carry details your camera stores in them, such as when and where they were taken. Your company decides what goes in and controls it; we keep and process it on your company's behalf and only to run MapDry for them.
Other information
- Billing. Payments go through Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep your company's Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and billing dates.
- Technical data. Our servers log requests (IP address, time, the page or action, and the app or browser version) to keep MapDry running and secure. We collect crash and error reports to fix problems.
- How MapDry is used. The app and web app record which screens you open and what you tap or click, and keep recordings of sessions so we can fix problems and help when you contact support. Recordings hide all text, typed input, and images, so they show where you tapped, not what was on screen. These are linked to your account (your email, name, and company) so we can find yours when you ask for help.
MapDry has no advertising, doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and doesn't sell or rent personal information.
How we use it
- To provide MapDry: storing and syncing job records between your company's phones and the web app, and producing reports.
- To sign you in, by emailing you sign-in links.
- To bill your company and send billing emails (through Stripe).
- To answer support requests and tell you about changes to MapDry or these terms.
- To keep MapDry secure, prevent abuse, fix problems, and learn which parts of MapDry are used so we can improve them.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that run parts of MapDry for us, under contracts that limit their use of it to that service:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, storage, databases, and sending sign-in emails (United States).
- PowerSync (JourneyApps): syncing job records to devices (United States).
- Stripe: payments, invoices, and sales tax.
- Google Workspace: our email, if you write to us.
- PostHog: error reports, usage, and session recordings (United States).
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or as part of a sale or merger of our business (with this policy still applying).
Photo links. If someone in your company turns on photo links in a report, anyone with a link can see that photo and its caption. Turning the links off removes them.
Who can see job records
Everyone in your company can see your company's jobs. People in other companies can't. We look at your company's records only when needed to support you, keep MapDry running, or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Records and photos your team deletes are removed for good 30 days later.
- If your company's subscription ends, its records stay readable for 90 days, and we email admins 30 days before deleting them.
- When your company's admin deactivates your account, you can no longer sign in, and your name stays on what you recorded, as part of your company's job records. If you ask us to remove your name and email, we do, and what you recorded stays credited to a former member.
- Backups are kept for up to 30 days, after which deleted information is gone from them too.
- We keep billing records as long as tax law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your name and email in the app. Your company's admin can deactivate your account. You can also email privacy@mapdry.com to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. For job records, we'll work with your company, since they control them. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have further rights; we honor them however you ask, and won't treat you differently for asking.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who run MapDry, and sign-in uses one-time email links rather than passwords that could be reused.
Children
MapDry is a tool for businesses and isn't meant for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email admins and update the date above before the change takes effect.
